When the Water Calms

Lately, I've been spending a couple of afternoons each week driving through the outlying neighborhoods of Houston taking photos for a presentation on economic disparity in the Greater Houston Area. It's been a kick in the face on several fronts. I've never seen such abject poverty on the scale I've witnessed in the past months. Seeing houses where a family has hung a bed sheet up as their front door in the ramshackle fort they call home is more than a gentle reminder of the blessings in my daily life.
